In 1998, while living in what I affectionately call “WisCOLDson,” I was out searching for old barns and structures to inspire my technical pen work—especially scenes with an abandoned vehicle nearby, real or imagined. I came across a familiar barn and shed I’d passed many times before, but that day, something compelled me to stop and take photos. Later, while reviewing the prints, my focus shifted from the buildings to the foreground—a weathered fence post I had unknowingly captured in close-up. That accidental discovery sparked my ongoing artistic journey into the quiet, textured beauty of fence posts.
